We are a TICA-registered, family-run cattery, based in the heart of Oregon. We raise our Siberian kittens as part of our family, ensuring they are friendly and well-socialized when they go to their new homes.

At Northwest Inara Siberian Cats, our journey began with a predicament: my husband and children wanted a cat but I am allergic - I mean full blown swollen itchy eyes, the works!. Determined to find a way to enjoy the fun of having a furry friend, we stumbled upon the Siberian breed. Known for being low allergen, Siberians seemed to be the perfect fit for our family. So we adopted our first kitten: Nikita.

As we spent more time with the Nikita, her playful personality and stunning appearance stole our hearts. And that’s when we decided to embark on a new adventure: establishing a small, family-run cattery with the goal of sharing these wonderful cats with other families grappling with allergies. Our goal? To provide everyone the opportunity to experience the joy and companionship that Siberian cats bring. Northwest Inara Siberian Cats is here to make your dreams of owning a cat come true - without the sneezing and itchy eyes!

Being a small cattery means our kittens get lots of love and attention. They grow up right in our home, surrounded by family life, which makes them super social and ready to join your home. My four kids make sure all the kittens are socialized and ready to play with other kiddos. Living indoors helps them get used to all the sights and sounds they’ll encounter in their new homes.

And because we want our cats to be as happy as can be, they also have access to a screened-in catio. This enclosure lets them enjoy fresh air, bird-watch, and feel the breeze - all while staying safe and bug free. Our stud cat even has his very own bachelor pad, which we call "The Kitty Cabana." The Kitty Cabana lets him have room to play freely and get one-on-one attention from us, all while keeping our house safe from any unwanted spraying! He loves hanging in his own personal catio and going on walks; bird watching is one of his favorite things!

About Siberian Cats

Siberian cats make wonderful pets, but what makes them so special? Here is what you need to know about the Siberian breed.

Siberians Are Known For Being Low-Allergen

Siberians are famous for being low-allergen cats, which means many people with allergies can own them. When people have an allergic reaction to cats, they are most often reacting to a protein in the cat’s saliva named Fel-D1. When cats groom themselves, the protein dries on their fur, causing allergies for those who pet them. Siberian cats produce lower levels of the Fel-D1 protein than other cat breeds. The levels can vary but overall, most people with allergies do very well with Siberian cats.

Siberians Come From The Forests Of Siberia Russia

Siberian cats originate from the Taiga of Siberia, Russia, where they have thrived for over 1,000 years. Thanks to their long history in the harsh Siberian climate, Siberian cats have developed remarkable adaptations that make them well-suited for colder environments. Their thick triple coats, muscular build, and tufted paws allow them to navigate snow-laden landscapes with ease, while their dense fur provides excellent insulation against cold temperatures.

Siberians Are Built For Jumping And Climbing

Siberians have a unique physical structure. Their back legs are longer than their front legs. This makes them excellent jumpers and climbers. We highly recommend placing cat trees and climbing posts around the house to keep your Siberian happy.

Siberians Are Highly Intelligent

Siberian cats are highly intelligent, making them excellent companions for those seeking a feline that loves to learn and explore. They have a natural curiosity, always eager to investigate their surroundings and discover new things. In addition, many Siberians can be trained to perform tricks, showcasing their remarkable intelligence.

Siberians Are Highly Social

Unlike many cats Siberians love to be around their people. They love to play, sit next to you on the couch, or sit on your desk while you work on the computer. In fact Siberian cats should not be left alone all day or they will get depressed and stressed. That is why Siberians tend to need a companion so they do not get lonely.
